Fossil hunt at Folkestone - 07/02/2009

Today was the first time I had visited folkestone. The weather proved to be fantastic and the trip well worth it. Several varieties of ammonite were found including various Hamites, Hoplites and Turrilites type ammonites. Also found a piece of a crab shell, belemnite and fossil wood. I would recommend this location to anyone. Philip Hadland

Always visiting the area

Folkestone is nearly on my doorstep and always rewards the brave, after storms, from lovely Ammonites to fish, crabs, and the occasional piece of reptile Ichthoysaur tooth, bone etc. Well worth the visit!

Have made first visit to The warren in Folkstone today, and only my second fossil hunt, but found a ammonite!!! Great area - will be back!

Folkestone is one of my local hunting grounds and over the years I've built up a very nice selection of material from this location. There's a huge variety of possible finds, including the original shelled ammonites for which the site is known.
Well worth a visit. You're bound to find something!
